Andrew Reach
Visual Artist
Andrew Reach, raised in Miami, Florida, knew he wanted to be an architect. Reach attended school at Pratt Institute and worked with firms in New York and Los Angeles, before returning to Miami to work with HOK Architects.
At the start of construction as project architect on the Frost Museum, Andrew underwent a second surgery for a spinal disease and from that point he was unable to continue in his profession. He channeled his energies from architecture to fine artist using digital tools to create large-scale abstract prints that would be too physically demanding for him to paint. His works employ geometric abstraction, as Reach says on his website, “in a visual dance of color, composition and optic play to imbue a kinetic sense of movement; a stand in for my inability to move freely through the work without pain”
Reach’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the U.S., including Miami, New York, Washington D.C, New Orleans, Cleveland, San Francisco and Chicago. His works are in the Permanent Collection of the Frost Art Museum in Miami, The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals.
