Dear Friends of Cleveland,
The three of us are joining together, with others, to invite you to learn about a new, exciting development in the City of Cleveland. You may already have heard about the Gordon Square Arts District, because Mayor Jackson, in his recent State of the City Address, mentioned it as part of $3 billion in economic development projects that will make our city great again.
The Gordon Square Arts District, centered at Detroit Avenue and West 65th Street, will bring renewed energy to our city and is already an integral part of an exciting neighborhood on Cleveland’s West Side that will be an asset for the entire region.
Cleveland is in the process of rebirth and change. Please join us as we strive to complete this unique effort that uses the arts as a catalyst for economic development, creates jobs that keep our young people here and connects more residents throughout the county with arts and cultural programming. Anchored by three established organizations, Cleveland Public Theatre, Detroit-Shoreway, and Near West Theatre, the Gordon Square Arts District will offer cinema and stage productions that will attract patrons from throughout Northeast Ohio. We expect that Gordon Square will be a bustling destination point not only for audiences, but for the creative workforce who want to live and work in one of
Cleveland’s great neighborhoods.
This project will promote much more than the arts, however. It is reenergizing a neighborhood turnaround with the launch of a Gordon Square area construction boom estimated at $300 million. (There is ample evidence of the rebirth already underway in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. Hundreds of new homes, many offering views of nearby Lake Erie and access to lakefront amenities, have been built in this resurgent area.)
Millions of dollars have already been allocated for the Gordon Square Arts District projects and the work has begun. Leaders from diverse sectors have stepped forward to provide their support. We hope that you will agree with us that this is a very important project. We’re very close to making it happen. Please help us realize the Gordon Square Arts District through your support and contributions.
Thank you for your consideration,

Albert B. Ratner
